SHRN 2024: Teacher Guidance for primary schools

Thank you for taking part in this year’s SHRN data collection.

This page contains all the information you’ll need to run the surveys at your school.

The Student Health & Well-being Survey:

  • Download your teacher guide here. This contains an overview of the data collection process and includes a test link so you can check the survey is compatible with your IT systems.
  • Download a copy of the student survey (for teachers) here. This version is annotated and contains an introductory script that must be read out to your class before they start the survey.
  • Download the parent information sheet here. This must be circulated to parents at least 2 weeks before you administer the survey. Please use at least 2 different methods of communication. Keep track of any parental opt-outs as you will need to enter these onto your data collection dashboards.
  • Download a copy of the student survey (for parents) here. This should only be shared in a controlled space that is accessible to parents of year groups 3-6.

The School Environment Questionnaire (SEQ):

The SEQ is to be completed once by a member of the senior leadership team (or appointed representative).

Used in combination with the student survey it creates a unique comprehensive dataset to explore links between school policies/practices (e.g. school leadership; school ethos; school environment; curriculum learning; family and community engagement) and learner health and well-being outcomes.

  • Download a copy of the SEQ here. We strongly encourage you to complete via a hard copy and then input your answers using your school’s SEQ link. You can then save your hardcopy for auditing and evaluation purposes.

Reporting:

Your school-level data report will be sent after Easter – date TBC. Data releases are dependent on schools submitting all information onto their dashboards and time required for data cleaning activities.

In the new year, we will confirm when you can expect your data reports.

You can access a copy of an exemplar report we created for our piloting phase, here. Please note, the template is only available in English. Your School Data Report will be bilingual.
