How the School Health Research Network can support a whole school approach to promoting positive mental health
We are privileged to hear from three professors from Cardiff University, with expertise in school health and wellbeing:
Professor Simon Murphy, Director of DECIPHer and SHRN lead and adolescent mental health:
Professor Stephan Collishaw, Personal Chair of the Division of Psychological Medicine and Clinical Neurosciences
Professor Frances Rice, Professor of Developmental Psychopathology
Their presentations cover:
• The policy and research context in Wales and the role of the School Health Research Network
• The background to the mental health and wellbeing measures included in the Student Health and Wellbeing Survey and how to interpret data introduced this year.
• Practical implications of pupil mental health for schools
• How schools can best support pupil mental health
This was planned as a webinar, however, due to work restrictions relating to Covid 19, the three presentations have been recorded separately.
This has led to some technical issues, so for clarification of the oral presentations, we have also provided written transcripts of what was said to accompany each slide. We hope that this helps. (When the opportunity arises, the team will bring these together as one webinar.)
If you have any queries, then please contact shrn@cardiff.ac.uk. The SHRN team are keen to continue to support schools and others at this time
