As a member of The School Health Research Network (SHRN), your child’s school is taking part in our 2024 data collection this autumn term. Learners in your groups 3–6 will be invited to participate in the SHRN Student Health and Well-being Survey.
They will be asked a range of questions relating to their health and well-being. Participation is voluntary, and learners’ answers are confidential and anonymous.
Schools use this anonymised data to inform action planning.

Sensitivity and Safeguarding
Some learners may have sensitivities around certain topic areas. As the survey is teacher-led, the necessary school support will be available to your child.
If a safeguarding concern arises, the school will follow it’s safeguarding procedure.
Why we ask certain questions:
Q6 – 11 are used to assess children’s socio-economic status (SES) through information on family ownership. Research uses SES to explore the root causes and consequences of inequality and poverty within societies and examines disparities within and across specific populations.
Q22, 23 & 24 are validated measures. These are questions that have been scientifically tested to ensure production of reliable and accurate results.
Learners can skip any question they do not want to answer, and can stop completing at any time.
To opt out your child:
Please contact your child’s school if you want to opt your child out of this activity.
