National Data and Reports

Welcome to Our Comprehensive Collection of Detailed Primary and Secondary School Reports and Data

At the School Health Research Network (SHRN), we are dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of children and young people across Wales. Established as a collaborative effort between schools, academic researchers, and health policymakers, SHRN focuses on generating high-quality evidence to inform health  and well-being improvement strategies in educational settings.

Insights for Healthier Learning and Well-Being

Our reports deliver valuable insights gathered from extensive surveys conducted in primary and secondary schools. These surveys focus on essential health and well-being metrics, providing the data needed to make informed decisions. By leveraging this information, we aim to foster healthier environments that support the well-being and success of all learners.

By engaging with 100% of secondary schools, and more than 50% of primary schools in Wales (as per our 2024 inaugural primary school survey), SHRN not only benchmarks data but also supports the implementation of effective health and well-being interventions throughout learners’ educational journeys.

SHRN Briefing Papers

Our briefing papers are essential for sharing key findings and insights from our data. They provide concise, evidence-based information that supports educators, health professionals, and policymakers in making informed decisions. By summarising research outcomes and highlighting best practices, these papers foster collaboration and drive effective health initiatives in schools. We believe that sharing this knowledge is vital for creating healthier learning environments and enhancing the well-being of learners across Wales.
